Despite all of Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp’s attention being focused on tonight’s Europa Cup clash with the German’s former club Borussia Dortmund, the rumour mill does not stop as we begin to prepare for what should be an incredible summer transfer window.

So forgetting any talk of Mario Gotze, or Marco Reus or even Ilkay Gundogan coming to Anfield lets focus on one player who would appear to be definitely leaving Merseyside after just one short season, and that is Christian Benteke.

The Daily Express via the Liverpool Echo is reporting this morning that Spanish giants Atletico Madrid are prepared to pay Liverpool £37 million for the Belgium international.

Since arriving from Aston Villa in the summer for £32.5 million Benteke has found it hard to get a starting spot in Jürgen Klopp’s team and is frustrated that he has now become a super sub for Klopp, only being used when Liverpool finds themselves needing a goal late on in matches.

As for Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid, the talk is that they would like to sign Diego Costa back from Chelsea but also have their eye on Benteke as they look to replace both Jackson Martinez and former Liverpool star Fernando Torres.
