There is no denying that Liverpool’s new manager Jürgen Klopp would like to be reunited with Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, and despite all the talk of a January transfer it looks as though a deal is not on the cards following the 24-year-olds latest comments, saying:”This is an issue that is always floating around.

“I am very happy with BVB and feel very comfortable here. Of course, I can imagine remaining here beyond the end of the season.”

One move that could happen though is that Klopp recalls Serbian winger Lazar Markovic from his loan spell with Fenerbahce early.

Klopp is known to be an admirer of the 21-year-old former Benfica star and may feel that he can get more out of the £20 million signing than former manager Brendan Rodgers was able to do.

While speaking with Portuguese football newspaper A Bola Markovic reportedly said: “I didn’t have a good relationship with the coach. That was a problem. I played in many positions but didn’t play in mine.

“I do not look at the past… And Liverpool have a new coach.”

This is in fact true with Rodgers having played many players out of position, so who knows if Klopp plays Markovic in his natural role he could develop into being a big star for Liverpool.

Some good news for Reds fans is that Philippe Coutinho’s friend Lucio is urging the midfielder to reject any offer from Barcelona and remain at Liverpool.

“If it was my decision, I would stay. If I was Coutinho, I would not leave Liverpool,” Lucio told IBTimes UK.

“Barcelona have several star players like [Lionel] Messi, [Luis] Suarez and Neymar. If Coutinho joins Barcelona, he has to play wherever the coach wants him to play, which would be to fill in here and there.”

“Regarding his future, it is a decision only Coutinho could take, but as a friend I would suggest him to stay at Liverpool,” Lucio said.
