In expectation of losing Jasper Cillessen to Manchester United Ajax director of football Marc Overmars has been in contact with Arsenal to inquire about the availability of Polish shot-stopper Wojciech Szczesny.

United meanwhile is still playing hardball with Real Madrid over the transfer of David De Gea, insisting they would rather keep him for next season and see him walk away for nothing next summer, rather than let him join Real Madrid now without the Spanish giants at least willing to do a deal for Sergio Ramos.

Szczesny meanwhile lost his starting place for Arsenal after a terrible display on New Year’s Day against Southampton, making way for Colombian international David Ospina, who for no fault of his own finds himself back on the bench following the Gunners signing of Chelsea veteran, Petr Cech.

Cillessen meanwhile is the perfect replacement for De Gea with United manager Louis van Gaal knowing him well from the Dutch national team.

As for Arsenal they do not need four goalkeepers and could quite easily sell Szczesny or at least allow him to join the Amsterdam team on loan.
