According to reports coming out of Spain Manchester United could be given help from new kit sponsor Adidas to sign Barcelona playmaker Lionel Messi.

United has now joined Chelsea in an attempt to lure one of the world’s greatest players away from Barcelona after the Argentinian opened the door to a possible transfer with his recent cryptic remarks.

Adidas already sponsor Messi and will start a new relationship with Manchester United next season which provides them with the opportunity to make what would be for the German sportswear manufacturer a dream deal.

Adidas would quite possibly be able to play the stars wages, or come up with part of the £200 million release clause, but as Chelsea have already pointed out Financial Fair Play rules and third party ownership will be difficult to overcome.
