Chelsea’s Dutch midfielder Marco van Ginkel has had limited playing time in Italy this season due to a string of unfortunate injuries, but trainer Filippo Inzaghi feels as though the 22-year-old would benefit from staying with the Serie A club for another season.

Van Ginkel was impressive in last Sundays 3-0 win over Torino and trainer Inzaghi believes he can make a huge difference if he can remain free from injuries next season.

“Unfortunately he is not our player,” said Inzaghi. “But he has grown a lot.

“He has played seven or eight games in a row and we are starting to see a great player.

“He does really well in training.

“Chelsea have great midfielders and he is in need of playing.

“My will would be if possible to keep him because he can give us a big hand.”

Chelsea signed van Ginkel from Vitesse Arnhem for £8 million in 2013, but the young Dutchman only made four appearances for the Blues before being sent out on loan.
