Former Arsenal player and now Sky Sports football pundit Paul Merson thinks that if Manchester United can beat Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday afternoon it will make them joint favourites to win the Premier League title.

United travels down to London this weekend sitting top of the table, one point clear of cross town rivals Manchester City, and after having won their last four games in all competitions fancy their chances of wrapping up another victory against the Gunners following Arsenal pathetic 3-2 Tuesday night loss to Greek side Olympiacos in the Champions League.

‘I’ve been critical of United all season, questioning whether they are good enough,’ Merson told Sky Sports. ‘They’ve been playing well, nicking results here and there.’

‘[But] if they win this game you’ve got to put them down as big players in the title race.

‘Victory at the Emirates would make them second or even joint-favourites, in my opinion.

‘United haven’t been incredible, but they haven’t done anything wrong.’
