Manchester United have been given a massive boost in their attempt to bring in a centre back to the club this summer. This is as Borussia Dortmund star Mats Hummels has revealed he could be on his way out of the German Bundesliga this summer. The high rated centre back has always been linked with a move to Manchester United.

Last summer, he was said to be a key target for the Red Devils but the window ended without the player moving from Dortmund and United also ended the window without having signed a centre back. Mats Hummels could however begin the 2016/2017 season as a Manchester United.

Speaking to the Press in Germany, Hummels who won the 2014 world cup with Germany and is one of the players manager Joachim Low is backing on for success at the European Championship coming up in France in June, was quoted to have said;

‘I don’t necessarily want to [leave], but I have to make a big decision. I have been back and forth a lot,’ Hummels told Bild.

‘Age gives you a feeling that you don’t have forever to win. I realise in every year I don’t win a title, I’m closer to retiring.’

This is a clear indication that should the right offer arrive, Hummels could leave Dortmund in the summer. Although United have not been winning titles in recent time, Hummels would know it is a little bleep and the Red Devils will be back to the top of English football once again unlikely Dortmund who will continue to struggle under the shadow of Bayern Munich.
