According to news coming out of France, Paris Saint-Germain Striker Edinson Cavani is desperate to seal a move to Manchester United this summer.

Following the departure of Radamel Falcao and Robin van Persie, United boss Louis van Gaal has opted to put England international Wayne Rooney back to his favourite centre-forward position, but it does not take away from the fact that despite bringing in midfield and defensive reinforcements the Red Devils are desperately short of attacking options other than relying on attacking midfielders to provide the goals.

For their part PSG does not want to lose the 28-year-old Uruguayan international, but now given Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s desire to see his contract out at the Parc des Princes, Cavani’s wanting to play a more central role in trainer Laurent Blanc’s team has taken a massive hit.

The whole deal could depend on how hard Cavani wants to push for a move in order to make PSG let him go, and despite the fact he will cost United a British record transfer fee he is exactly what the club needs to win back the English Premiership.
