Manchester United appears to be in the driving seat when it comes to the signing of Valencia centre-back Nicolas Otamendi after the 27-year-old Argentinian defender refuse’s to report to Valencia for pre-season training.
Currently the Argentinian international is on holiday following his participation in the Copa America for the losing finalists.
Spanish sports daily Marca is claiming that Otamendi is pushing for a move to Valencia and will not return to the club with all thought’s now firmly rooted on playing for the Red Devils next season.
No matter the situation regarding Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos, Otamendi was always a target for LVG and when the chance to possibly sign Ramos came up the Dutchman decided to go after both players and see what develops.
Otamendi has a £35.5million release clause but United are hoping to be able to sign him for a lesser fee.
