arsenal, barcelona,

This was the season that everybody expected Arsenal to win the Premier League title. And they were well on course until, well, Oliver Giroud happened.

The Frenchman is currently on a 19-game goal-drought and is not exactly one of the most liked Arsenal players at the moment. As things stand, he’ll lose his starting place to Danny Welbeck for Arsenal’s game this weekend.

With this season already gone and Arsenal trying to come back stronger next term, The Telegraph have reported that Arsenal are seriously scouting a certain AZ Alkmaar striker.

His name is Vincent Janssen. The 21-year old who joined Alkmaar from Erste Divisie side Almere City last summer has racked up 26 goals already this season. His goal tally is one of the reasons AZ have managed to stay in the top four in the Dutch league.

With plenty of technical skill and that kinf of goalscoring record, it’s like Arsenal have found themselves a great replacement for Oliver Giroud.

Vincent Janssen is certainly not the type of striker Arsenal fans want. He is not a world class striker but no one knew Robin Van Persie before he joined Arsenal. The problem with Wenger is his refusal to sign any striker at all when he can’t get his world class targets.

Imagine if Arsenal had signed Aubameyang when he was linked with Arsenal two years ago? He was available for less than 25 million, he will now cost over £60 million to sign now.

Vincent Janssen could well go on to become a world class player. Wenger has done it with Vieira, Henry, the aforementioned Robin Van Persin and could well do it with Vincent Janssen.
