Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has made signing a quality striker for Liverpool a main priority this summer after having seen Daniel Sturridge miss so many games through injury.

With this in mind the Reds have turned to Manchester City, eying up both Stevan Jovetic and Edin Dzeko, according to reports.

Manchester City plans a major summer overhaul, and it would appear as if the Montenegrin and Bosnian international are both heading for the exit door at the Etihad.

Dzeko in particular is of interest due to his 6ft 4in height, and the fact he has a great record of scoring goals in the Premiership according to Metro.

The 29-year-old striker is also on Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho’s hit list as the man to replace Didier Drogba, while at the same time providing cover for the hamstring troubled Spanish international.

Dzeko would probably cost around £25 million, and while most players of his calibre would prefer to join a team in the Champions League, the opinion is that he would snub Chelsea for Liverpool after having spent so much time on the bench at City, he knows it may be the same scenario at Stamford Bridge so would prefer Anfield and the guaranteed playing time he would get with Liverpool.
